About me…
I am dedicated to looking, noticing, seeing and capturing. I have had no training as an artist, and was formally educated as an anthropologist. I was then shaped over three decades by my “main job”, which has been to help leaders transform their organisations. Both my education and profession brought out - and benefitted from - the compassionate observer in me.
While I have never trained as an artist, my mother told me I could draw from a very early age - almost before I learned how to write. It seemed to be simply something “in me”. This mystery made all sense when I traced my biological mother (I am adopted) and discovered she was a professional artist! While she gave me away at birth, she did so with a God-given gift.
It is now good to spend more time with my art. It’s how I relax and slip into a different level of consciousness where I can lose my “self” and be at one with the world.
When I draw, I enjoy capturing tricky perspectives, and bringing out the tonality or drama of what I see through light and shadow. I marvel at how simple pencil on paper can capture all that’s needed.
When I paint, I enjoy seeing how colours can mix and merge to convey both mood and scenic beauty.
